The Scepter mobile computer brings the “big screen” to the rugged mobile device marketplace. With a 5″ LCD it offers the largest display available on any non-tablet device. A larger display is beneficial for reviewing more data and faster task completion. The Scepter has various barcode scan engines such as 2D barcode scanning capabilities. Powered by Android, the Scepter is perfectly suited for either cloud-based or on-premise inventory management systems, using modern terminal emulation clients or the onboard web browser.
It’s also rich with a variety of options such as a pistol-grip handle, multiple keypad options, and a variety of barcode scan engines to accommodate different application requirements. Specifically designed for industrial applications, the Scepter defines ruggedness and reliability, and raises the bar when it comes to performance.
The Scepter was engineered for manufacturing and warehouse barcode scanning applications, and more specifically, for inventory control tasks. The oversized 5″ LCD offers plenty of screen space to accommodate more viewable data, especially for web-based applications. The added capability of long range barcode scanning makes the Scepter the ideal choice for distribution centers and with 2D barcode scanning capability, any barcode can be read in any orientation. While Windows-based barcode scanning devices are being retired in the industrial markets, rugged handheld computers running the Android operating system are the most ideal replacement devices.
The Scepter is the perfect all-day, multi-shift mobile computer for virtually any data collection application.
Designed specifically for challenging environments such as Manufacturing, Distribution, and Warehousing, any task is performed with ease using the Scepter.
Users tasked with all-day use of a mobile computer will appreciate the engineering put into the American-Made Scepter. The model equipped with a pistol grip handle weighs in at 2 pounds (680g) and is extremely well balanced over the handle, making for comfortable operation even over long stretches of time.
The 24.8 watt-hour battery will last up to 8 ½ hours based on scanning a barcode every 10 seconds and the integrated flashlight is a pleasant convenience in those dark corners of the warehouse. When it comes to the fundamental needs of the warehouse worker, we’ve thought of everything… and the result was the Scepter.
Access a desktop computer from a mobile computer interface to control applications and run processes via the Remote Desktop Connection.
Track raw materials, assemblies and finished goods through the manufacturing process. Know what you have and at what stage in the manufacturing process it is.
From Receiving to Shipping, barcode data capture allows supply chain professions to know what inventory they have and where to find it.
Terminal Emulation over Telnet is still a reliable and efficient means of communicating with mobile devices, requiring less bandwidth on the network and fewer resources on the handheld.

AML products are warranted against defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one year from the date of purchase. The obligation of AML under the Standard Factory Warranty is limited to furnishing labor and materials necessary to return the product to its normal operating condition, or to replace the unit, at AML’s discretion, and only on a “to factory” basis. This limited warranty does not extend to any product which has been modified, misused, abused, or incorrectly installed.
An Extended Warranty Plus may be purchased for eligible products, as denoted on the product warranty chart below. An Extended Warranty Plus REPLACES the standard limited warranty, and provides for the following additional benefits.
The Extended Warranty Plus may be purchased anytime during the term of the standard limited warranty. The Extended Warranty Plus is not an extension of the standard warranty, but instead replaces it. The start date of the Extended Warranty Plus is the start date of the original warranty. Note that the Extended Warranty Plus does not cover products that have been subjected to improper installation, or that have been modified or used for purposes other than what they were intended.
Today’s consumer devices are typically only supported for 2-3 years from date of release. While the typical life expectancy for industrial equipment is 5+ years, AML historically exceeds this mark substantially, although no guaranteed life span is made or implied due to the litany of outside factors that can impact a product’s life cycle. At a minimum, AML is committed to maintaining the Striker’s OS firmware for as long as the product is kept in production. This includes periodic updates for critical CVEs (Common Vulnerability and Exposures) that are applicable per the Android Security Bulletins. AML also extends that support beyond Android’s updates if their support ends early by manually patching critical vulnerabilities as necessary.
