Striker is the continuation of AML’s development of American-Made, Android® mobile computers. A smaller, more lightweight version of our popular Scepter mobile computer, Striker delivers on affordability, durability and versatility. The combination of these attributes makes Striker the ideal android mobile computer for barcode scanning in a wide variety of applications ranging from distribution, manufacturing, retail, and commercial deployments.
Regardless if the task at hand is in a heavy-duty industrial environment like a manufacturing plant, or the relatively docile surroundings of a retail store, Striker will excel in both. It has the durability and ruggedness required by “heavy hands” and tough surroundings, while still being light, compact and comfortable for back-office and retail store floor applications.
Striker can be tailored to meet specific application requirements such as the choice between 1D or 2D barcode scanners. Users can also select to use a pistol grip handle or to add a camera option if desired. A common use case for the Striker is an inventory scanner so the tactile keypad offers more accuracy and certainty for data entry, and the integrated dual-beam flashlight is incredibly useful in those dark corners of the warehouse.
As a barcode scanning handheld computer, no other product offers a comparable degree of durability and versatility, at such an affordable price than the American-Made Striker mobile computer from AML.
The Striker mobile computer comes with several AML applications that ease configuration and allows users to tailor the device performance to meet their application needs. AML Setup simplifies configuring and deploying multiple Strikers by creating QR codes that when scanned will configure the device with pre-determined settings. Admins can create these barcodes using AML Console. AML Setup also works hand-in-hand with AML Device Manager, the mobile device management software (MDM) developed specifically for AML products. With Device Manager, admins can remotely configure, update and monitor device performance in real-time. The web-based application offers a host of features beyond just device configuration, including two-way messaging, remote control of devices, and locating missing devices.
The AML Android Mobile Computer is affordable, durable, and versatile. It is the ideal tool for barcode scanning across various applications. Its heavy-duty design will hold up well in any environment, yet it is light and compact for easy carrying. Best of all this mobile computer can be tailored to meet specific requirements.
In addition to the built-in utilities, our popular DC Suite software for simple batch data collection applications is preloaded on Striker. The software comes with seven pre-written applications that will cover the most common barcode data capture tasks, like cycle counting.
Striker comes preloaded with Ivanti’s Velocity terminal emulation software powered by Wavelink. The software will run in demo mode until activated with a license which is sold separately. For users who are more familiar with telnet connections to legacy systems, Striker is preloaded with a basic, text-based terminal emulation client specifically for VT220 applications. This TE client from Glink is licensed and ready to use.
Striker is ideal for manufacturing and warehouse barcode scanning for inventory control applications due to its size, weight, and ergonomic design. The added feature of long-range barcode scanning emphasizes its versatility for use in distribution centers. Rugged Android-based handheld computers are quickly displacing Windows-based barcode scanning devices. In the industrial markets, Striker is leading the way as the ideal contemporary replacement for legacy devices.
Every retail operation, big or small, needs reliable inventory management and it starts at the receiving dock or the back door.
Track raw materials, assemblies and finished goods through the manufacturing process. Know what you have and at what stage in the manufacturing process it is.
From Receiving to Shipping, barcode data capture allows supply chain professions to know what inventory they have and where to find it.
Terminal emulation over Telnet is still a reliable and efficient method of communicating with mobile devices, requiring less bandwidth on the network and fewer resources on the handheld. The Striker is preloaded with a Glink VT220 license. The Striker is also compatible with other terminal emulation software including Velocity and StayLinked.

AML products are warranted against defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one year from the date of purchase. The obligation of AML under the Standard Factory Warranty is limited to furnishing labor and materials necessary to return the product to its normal operating condition, or to replace the unit, at AML’s discretion, and only on a “to factory” basis. This limited warranty does not extend to any product which has been modified, misused, abused, or incorrectly installed.
An Extended Warranty Plus may be purchased for eligible products, as denoted on the product warranty chart below. An Extended Warranty Plus REPLACES the standard limited warranty, and provides for the following additional benefits.
The Extended Warranty Plus may be purchased anytime during the term of the standard limited warranty. The Extended Warranty Plus is not an extension of the standard warranty, but instead replaces it. The start date of the Extended Warranty Plus is the start date of the original warranty. Note that the Extended Warranty Plus does not cover products that have been subjected to improper installation, or that have been modified or used for purposes other than what they were intended.
Today’s consumer devices are typically only supported for 2-3 years from date of release. While the typical life expectancy for industrial equipment is 5+ years, AML historically exceeds this mark substantially, although no guaranteed life span is made or implied due to the litany of outside factors that can impact a product’s life cycle. At a minimum, AML is committed to maintaining the Striker’s OS firmware for as long as the product is kept in production. This includes periodic updates for critical CVEs (Common Vulnerability and Exposures) that are applicable per the Android Security Bulletins. AML also extends that support beyond Android’s updates if their support ends early by manually patching critical vulnerabilities as necessary.
