NOTES:
  1. While real-time mode is more commonly used with the Scepter and Striker, both devices are pre-loaded with DC Suite for batch data collection as well.
  2. A Wavelink TE client is pre-loaded but is NOT licensed. Customer must purchase a license to activate. Striker is preloaded and licensed with a basic, text-based terminal emulation client called Glink specifically for VT220 applications.

Using Handheld Devices for Barcode Scanning in the Warehouse

Mobile computers are handheld, portable devices used in several types of businesses, that are capable of running web browsers or mobile apps designed to access either cloud-based or on-premise software systems that run those businesses. In addition, they have the ability to capture barcodes and even take photos. There are several types of mobile computers, ranging from smartphone-style to tablets, as well as industrial-grade computers with barcode scanners.

No matter the type of mobile computer your business requires, there are several standard functions they each have:

The Advantages of Using Android-based Mobile Computers for Inventory Tracking

There are significant and wide-ranging benefits to using mobile computers in your company:

Flexibility

Time is money in any business and giving employees the ability to be mobile while they are completing their assigned tasks offers a huge boost in efficiency. Mobile computers can completely eliminate the “clipboard and pencil” approach to data collection, as well as the need to enter or retrieve data using a desktop computer. Scanning barcodes virtually eliminates the potential for data entry errors that result from typing data into a computer keyboard. Employees can enter, scan, retrieve, edit and respond to data in real time, and on the move.

Productivity

Now other departments, groups or divisions that need visibility to that data, get it much quicker and with greater accuracy, when mobile computers are in use. Now they can act faster and with greater efficiency. The benefits of using mobile computers has a positive domino effect in any business. The end result is a higher degree of employee productivity, which minimizes waste and errors, improving the company’s bottom line profitability.

Better Customer Satisfaction and Management Support

By implementing the flexibility and increased productivity that mobile computers bring to your business, customer satisfaction is quickly boosted by being able to address the needs and demands of your customers more efficiently.
