Langham Logistics, a third-party logistics (3PL) provider specializing in pharmaceutical and life sciences warehousing, needed a reliable mobile computing solution to support its growing cold chain operations. With multiple temperature-controlled facilities—including environments ranging from controlled room temperature to deep freezer storage—the company required durable barcode scanning devices that could perform consistently across varying temperature conditions.
Langham Logistics has implemented Manhattan Associates’ WMS in all their facilities. To connect to their WMS, the mobile computers need to be able to make a remote desktop connection. Also, keeping in mind a future transition to Manhattan’s native Android app, their mobile computers also need to be compatible with the latest software requirements.
As Langham Logistics continues to expand their cold storage operations, rapid deployment of new devices was also a key factor in considering a new mobile computer solution. Langham Logistics recently opened a 367,000-sq-ft cold-storage warehouse in Indianapolis, IN. According to Langham Logistics, their controlled-temperature storage facilities range from controlled room temperatures at 25℃ to frozen temperatures -35℃.
