3PL Provider Porter Logistics recently expanded into cold chain logistics to accommodate food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industry clients. With an additional 145,000 square feet of cold storage space, it’s imperative that their team can efficiently keep track of all inventory processed across the warehouse in more extreme temperatures.
To maintain consistency across devices used in the warehouse, ideally the mobile computers used in dry storage areas also need to function properly in the cold storage area. As noted in a previous case study, Porter Logistics recently transitioned to AML’s StrikerX mobile computers. StrikerX is compatible with their software provider Extensiv 3PL System. The same 3PL software would be used in the cold storage area as well.
According to a Porter Logistics press release, their new cold storage facilities are designed to accommodate a wide range of temperatures, including refrigerated offerings between 35F and 40F as well as freezer storage as low as -20°F. Porter Logistics aimed to implement StrikerXs across upcoming cold storage sites, contingent on their ability to perform in extreme temperature environments.
