    AML is pleased to introduce the new M7220 Series wireless hand-held terminal. The M7220 combines the uncompromising performance and ease of use of the popular M7100 with new 802.11b/g radio technology, increased security capabilities and more power-packed features - all for the same great price you have come to expect from AML. The M7220 provides a cost-effective, flexible solution for professionals who require a tough yet easy-to-use wireless hand-held terminal to support all day, real-time data capture in retail, manufacturing, and warehouse operations.

    Reliable, productive and secure mobile performance
    The AML M7220 wireless hand-held terminal is richly configured with features and performance capabilities that help optimize business efficiencies and enhance worker productivity. Powered by the fast Samsung® S3C2410 ARM9 processor, the M7220 is equipped with 32MB of built-in RAM and 16MB of Flash ROM for ample storage capability. Its internal 802.11b/g radio integrates into most wireless local area networks (WLAN) and supports real-time, high-rate data transfer between mobile operators and host applications. Full-shift productivity is ensured by the M7220's enhanced power management, which easily supports eight-hour work shifts without recharging.

    The M7220 wireless hand-held terminal features an open source, embedded Linux® operating system that gives the terminal its speed, conservative memory usage and stable performance with no "lock-ups". The M7220 ships fully loaded with VT100/VT220 terminal emulation, TN5250 client, FTP server, SSH client, HTTP server, TELNET server, SSH/SFTP server, Web Browser, WEP and WPA/WPA2 advanced encryption and authentication capabilities. The M7220 connects to any Windows®, Unix®, i5/OS or Linux® host and is easily deployed across a wide range of applications. Administrators can easily configure and replicate settings on multiple terminals from their PC utilizing the M7220 PC-based Configuration Utility.

    Ergonomic and flexible functionality
    Rugged yet ergonomic, the M7220 sports a lightweight, contoured design for comfortable, one-handed operation over extended periods of use in highly repetitive scanning applications. The graphical 160 x 160 backlit LCD with multi-font capability is easy to read, even in dimly lit environments.

    Multiple M7220 product configurations ensure operational flexibility across a wide range of data capture applications. Choose the 55-key alphanumeric keypad or the lockable 35-key numeric keypad for applications requiring fast numeric data entry. Fully integrated scan engine options include the standard laser, a long range laser, an advanced long range laser or a 2-Dimensional imager for picture and signature capture.

    Accessories include a single slot communications and charging cradle, a four position terminal charger, a four position battery charger, an optional pistol grip with trigger (standard on Model M7221) and multiple holsters.

    Single Cradle Charger Single Slot Charging & Communications Cradle
    AML's single slot charging and communications cradle enables serial or USB (slave) communication between the M7220 and a host PC. The cradle charges the M7220 terminal battery and includes an extra slot for charging a spare battery. Dual color LED lights indicate when the terminal and spare battery are fully charged. The cradle accommodates the M7220 or the M7221 with pistol grip handle. Includes external power-pack and line cord. (Part number: ACC-5925)
    Four Terminal Charger Four Position Terminal Charger
    The four position terminal charger for the M7220 will simultaneously charge the internal batteries in four (4) M7220 terminals. Typical charge time is 4 hours. Dual color LED's provide charging status. One position of the charger also accommodates communications to the M7220 utilizing "pass through" RS-232 and USB ports. The four position charger is enclosed in a rugged metal housing and comes complete with external power-pack and line cord. (Part Number: ACC-5935)
    Four Battery Charger Four Position Battery Charger
    The four position battery charger for M7220 Series terminals will simultaneously charge four (4) M7220 batteries. Typical charge time is under 2 hours (half the time of the standard charger). Dual color LED's provide charging status. Featuring a rugged metal housing for added durability, the four position battery charger comes complete with external power supply and line cord. (Part Number: ACC-7037)
    Vehicle Mount Charger Vehicle Mount Terminal Charger
    AML's forklift or vehicle mount terminal charger charges the internal 7.8V Li-Ion battery of the M7220 terminal, and holds the M7220 securely for use or transit in a forklift or other vehicle. A 9-pin RS-232 port is provided for connection of an external serial device such as a tethered bar code reader or a serial printer. An optional output of 5V DC at 1 Amp is available, primarily for powering a device such as a tethered bar code reader. The vehicle mount terminal charger supports DC input voltages ranging from 9VDC to 54VDC.

    Terminal Vehicle Stand Vehicle Mount Cradle (non-charging)
    The AML vehicle mount cradle secures the M7220 terminal for use or transit in a forklift or other vehicle. Constructed of powder coated steel for durability, the cradle is fully adjustable and can be dash mounted. The vehicle mount cradle allows easy access to the terminal keypad and accommodates the M7220 with or without the optional pistol grip handle. (Part Number: ACC-7038)
    Holsters Multiple Holsters
    AML offers two styles of nylon holsters that provide added protection for the M7220 wireless terminal. Each holster comes with an adjustable belt and secures the M7220 terminal comfortably on the user's hip for easy terminal accessibility.

    Pistol Grip Handle Pistol Grip Handle
    The M7220 pistol grip handle is designed to accommodate users who prefer the point and shoot style of scanning. Installation is quick and easy. The pistol grip handle secures to the M7220 terminal with four screws and the battery is then relocated inside the pistol grip handle for easy change-out. (Part Number: ACC-5HND)
    Battery Spare Battery
    AML M7220 terminals utilize a rechargeable 2200 mAh Lithium-Ion battery. AML recommends that users include a spare battery with each terminal purchase to ensure continuous, uninterrupted terminal performance. (Part Number: 180-7100)

    • Is your customer replacing or adding to old or obsolete DOS-based terminals?

    If so, the AML M7220 wireless handheld is a great fit. The M7220 delivers a simple, cost-effective solution for any customer looking to replace aging or obsolete DOS-based wireless terminals.

    In many opportunities, if your customer is running a text-based application using a TE client (like VT100/VT220 or IBM 5250), there is no need to pay more for Windows CE devices that require faster processors, more memory, and bigger batteries. The AML M7220 wireless handheld terminal is current technology with processor speeds up to 16 times faster than older DOS-based terminals.

    With minimal user training and little redevelopment investment, customers can quickly and easily replace Symbol PDT 68XX, Symbol PDT 31XX, Symbol PDT61XX, Intermec 2020, Intermec 2415, Intermec 2425, Intermec 2435, PSC Falcon 3X5, or Telxon 960 terminals in their business with the hardworking M7220 wireless terminal.
    • Is this a new application?

    The M7220 wireless handheld terminal is also a good fit for new applications where the host application software uses a TE client. The M7220 features built-in VT100/VT220/TN5250 clients with multiple font options. Simply select the appropriate choice from the setup menu.

    If your customer would like to connect to a database, but their host application does not support wireless devices, they can use an application generation software package such as RFgen from The DataMAX Software Group.
    • What about the Linux® operating system?

    The M7220 features an open source, embedded Linux OS. This operating system, combined with the fast Samsung® ARM9 processor, gives the M7220 wireless terminal its speed, great battery life, and stable performance. If you wish to write your own application to run on the M7220 terminal as a "thick client", a free tool chain CD with all the necessary cross-compilers and API information is available upon request.
    The AML M7220 is not a good fit for applications requiring full GUI (Graphical User Interface) like Windows, or custom applications/clients that run only in DOS or Windows.
